OUTGROWTH DESIGN

logos & branding

01 · The Seed

OutGrowth Design came in with a name that already knew what it wanted to be: growth, pushing outward. Beyond that, there wasn't much on paper. The ask was straightforward: a logo and a business card. The harder part was implicit: make a mark that says all of that at a glance, without a paragraph of explanation. And yes, the name sits one word away from my own shop's, which raised the stakes in a way I enjoyed.

02 · The Groundwork

My strategy was to make the name do the work inside the letterforms themselves. Take the O and the G, set them in a classic serif, let them overlap. Then let something living emerge exactly at that intersection. The idea lives where the letters touch. Around it, restraint: charcoal gray for the structure, a single green for the name, and one controlled burst of color so the mark reads from across the room.

03 · The Growth

The finished mark fuses a serif O and G in charcoal, and out of their overlap spring five leaves. Red, yellow, blue, orange, green: the one loud moment in an otherwise quiet system. Below it, the wordmark splits the name the way the eye already wants to: "out" in gray, "growth" in green, "design" tucked small underneath, with a faint flourish drifting behind like a watermark.

The business card carries the system both ways. The front is pearl white, full-color logo over that same tonal flourish. The back flips to green: the monogram enlarged in white with silvered leaves, the name set inside the O's counter, phone number and URL running up a clean diagonal stripe. Same mark, two volumes.

“The idea lives where the letters touch.”

04 · The Bloom

The result is an identity that scales without complaint: full color on the white card face, a single color reversed out on the green, legible at thumbnail size and at full bleed. It earned its place among the featured work in my logos and branding shelf: one name, one mark, every piece pulling in the same direction.
